Greenwood, SC – Southern Wesleyan claimed the victory in both of their games in the Lander Tournament. The Warriors took down the Wasps of Emory & Henry in a 9-1 final score. They then defeated the Middle Georgia Knights in a 3-0.
The Warriors totaled eight hits in their opening game of the Lander Tournament. Both Olivia Haag and Abby Lawson had two hits to their names. Haag and Lawson each homered in the game, and Rebecca Lamb picked up a double. Lawson led the team with four RBIs. Behind her, Haag had three RBIs and Chloe Smith had two. Riley Brown stole the lone base for Southern Wesleyan. Emily Collins pitched a complete game in the circle and struck out eight batters while only allowing one hit.
Southern Wesleyan picked up four hits in their second game of the day. Rebecca Lamb led the team with two hits including her first home run of the season. Abby Schreiner also hit a home run in the game. Chloe Smith pitched a complete game for the Warriors and struck out four batters.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan vs Emory & Henry
Southern Wesleyan was first on the board against the Emory & Henry Wasps on Friday morning. Maddie Crouch led off the inning by hitting a single through the left second of the field. Reagan Fulcher and Rebecca Lamb reached base on back-to-back hit by pitches to load up the bases for Chloe Smith. Smith hit into a fielder's choice that took Lamb off the bases, but brought Crouch was able to come in to score on the play. Olivia Haag then hit a single to the short stop to allow Fulcher to come in to score the Warriors second run of the inning. A wild pitch allowed both Haag and Smith to advance to put both runners in scoring position. With Smith on third and Haag at second, Abby Lawson hit a single into right center field to bring two more runs in to score and give the Warriors a 4-0 run lead.
The Warriors pressed on in the third inning. Chloe Smith reached first on an error to bring Olivia Haag up to bat. Haag drilled the ball over the left center field fence for a two run shot to give the Warriors a 6-0 run advantage over the Wasps.
Emory & Henry put a run on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning as Hill sent the ball over the center field fence.
In the top of the fifth inning, the Warriors struck again. Rebecca Lamb led off the inning by hitting a double down the right field line. Haydin Williams came in to pinch run for Lamb and advanced to third on a wild pitch by the Wasps. Chloe Sith followed by hitting a single to third base to bring Williams in to score. With one out and Smith on first base, Abby Lawson sent the ball over the right field fence for a two-run home run. The Warriors went on to claim the first game of the day in a 9-1 final score.
Southern Wesleyan vs Middle Georgia
Southern Wesleyan struck first in the game against Middle Georgia. With two outs, Rebecca Lamb hit a single into left field and then advanced to second a passed ball. An error by the second baseman allowed Chloe Smith to reach first and brought Lamb in to score the first run of the game.
With one out in the top of the second inning, Abby Schreiner came up to the plate and drilled the ball over the left field wall to extend the Warriors lead to 2-0.
The Warriors continue to extend their lead in the top of the sixth inning. With one out, Rebecca Lamb came up to the plate and sent the ball over the right center field fence for a solo home run. Southern Wesleyan went on to win the game in a 3-0 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will continue in the Lander Tournament tomorrow as they take on the Middle Georgia Knights at 2pm before facing the Lander Bearcats at 6pm that evening. The Warriors will then host the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters in their home opener on February 21 in a double header beginning at 1pm. They will then travel to Hickory, NC to take on the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears on February 28.
