How It Happened

Erskine was first on the board in the midweek contest against the Warriors as Ahrianna Scott hit a three pointer.  However, the Warriors took the lead on back-to-back baskets by Peyton Looky and Makayla Raines.  With just over seven minutes on the clock, Looky got the ball out to Danielle Earley.  Earley stepped right past the arc to hit a three to give the Warriors an 11-3 point lead.  Southern Wesleyan pressed on as both Trinity Nesbitt and Kyra Price got up shots.  Makayla Raines knocked down a three, but the Flying Fleet answered with a three out of the hands of Scott.  Emily Gamon passed the ball out to Looky who put up a three pointer to extend the Warriors lead to fifteen with seconds left in the quarter.

The Warriors continued to distance themselves as Peyton Looky knocked down an early three pointer.  Trinity Nesbitt got around the defense and laid the ball up into the basket.  Ahrianna Scott put up a mid-range and then Talasha Walker put up a three pointer.  Danielle Earley got around the defense to lay the ball up and put the Warriors lead at 39-19.  The Flying Fleet answered with layups by Albany Wilson.  Erskine continued to challenge as Ahrianna Scott pulled down a defensive rebound and went coast-to-cost to hit a mid-range shot.  A last second layup by Makayla Raines put the Warriors on top 44-27 going into the locker room.

Savanna Nicholson put up a three pointer to kick-off the third quarter for the Warriors.  As Makayla Raines went up for a mid-range, she was fouled by Ahrianna Scott to send her to the charity stripe.  Raines hit both her shots to put the Warriors lead at twenty-two.  Scott stepped beyond the arc and hit a three pointer off a pass from Talasha Walker.  Trinity Nesbitt laid the ball up into the basket and was fouled in the process to earn the and-one basket.  Ahrianna Scott drove to the basket and laid the ball up.  With just over three minutes left in the third quarter, Kyra Price hit a three pointer off a pass from Nesbitt.  After Jordan Race pulled down a rebound, she got the ball out to Esther Cole.  Cole got the ball into the hands of Emily Gamon who knocked down a mid-range to give the Warriors a thirty point lead.

Southern Wesleyan carried on their intensity into the fourth quarter as DeYana Hayes laid the ball up into the basket.  Ahrianna Scott answered with a mid-range, but the Warriors were not done as Danielle Earley got past the defense and laid the ball up into the basket.  Emily Gamon got the ball under the net to Hayes who laid it up into the basket.  However, Erskine answered as Scott put up another three pointer for the Flying Fleet.  With just over four minutes on the clock, Maris Kate Payseur hit a mid-range to electrify the Warriors' bench.  The Flying Fleet countered with baskets by Courtney Baldwin and Kerri O'Shields.  The Warriors went on to claim the game in an 88-52 final score.
