How It Happened

The Crusaders were first on the board as two minutes into the game Pat Hissim scored off a header from a corner kick.  Leonardo Flores looked to get the Warriors on the board as he put up a shot, but the Crusaders' defense blocked the his attack on the goal.  Luis Lezama and David Leo Lund each attacked the goal, but neither of their shots found the back of the net.  A foul outside the box allowed Jacob Zuniga to take a shot on the goal, however Jackson Bennett was able to protect the goal from his shot.  The Warriors would not back down as Michael Boyle put up a shot, but Bennett got a hand on it to push it away from the goal.  Belmont Abbey went on the attack again as Manuel Rastrollo Gomez sent the ball in from deep, but Jonah Keoughan was able to collect the ball.

A foul early in the second half allowed the Warriors to take a free kick.  Sebastian Zumbado crossed the ball over to Michael Boyle.  Boyle quickly crossed the ball back into the box where Ramon Estrada found the ball and headed it into the goal to tie the game up at one.  Southern Wesleyan continued their attacks as Brody Schroeder broke away down the field and put up a shot, but Jackson Bennett got a hand on it to knock it away.  Belmont Abbey answered with just under twenty minutes left in the clock as Ethan Cain headed the ball into the goal.  Despite several more attacks on the goal by the Warriors, they fell to the Crusaders in a 2-1 final.
