How It Happened

The Panthers took the first points of the game as Sofia Ponce laid the ball up into the basket.  However, seconds later, Savanna Nicholson hit her first three pointer of the game to give Southern Wesleyan the advantage.  Makayla Raines stole the ball away from the Panthers and got it over to Peyton Looky.  Looky wove around the defense and laid the ball up to extend the Warriors' lead to 5-2.  However, the lead was short lived as a three pointer out of the Gracie Beane allowed Ferrum to tie the game up.  Maslyn Mosbacher hit a three pointer, but the Warriors answered as Lexie Ransom put up a three of her own.  A series of free throws allowed the Panthers to take the lead in the final seconds of the first quarter.

The Warriors regained the lead early in the second quarter as Kyra Price passed the ball out to Makayla Raines.  Raines stepped right outside the arc and sunk the ball into the basket.  Savanna Nicholson knocked down back-to-back three pointers to extend the Warriors lead to seven.  Southern Wesleyan would not relent as Raines hit a mid-range jump shot.  Kleiauna Riddick got up a three pointer and then Jordan Fisher laid the ball up into the basket.  However, in the final seconds of the quarter, Savanna Nicholson got up yet another three pointer to put the Warriors ahead 31-22 at halftime.

Makayla Raines stole the ball away from the Panthers and went coast-to-coast.  However, Gracie Beane fouled her in the process to send her to the charity stripe.  Raines hit both her baskets to extend the Warriors lead to eleven.  However, Ferrum answered with a three pointer out of the hands of Beane.  The Panthers cut the Warriors lead down to five as Allyson Cassell laid the ball up into the basket.  Ferrum fought on as they took the lead on a three pointer by Breyana Kimmons.  In the final seconds of the third quarter, Raines hit her second three pointer of the game to put Southern Wesleyan back on top.

The Panthers charged out of the gate in the final quarter of the match as Dezariyah Clark laid the ball up into the basket.  Makayla Raines hit a floater to regain the Warriors one point advantage.  Ferrum took a six point lead as Breyana Kimmons put up another three pointer.  Esther Cole put up a mid-range, but a three pointer by Riddick extended the Panther's lead to seven.  Southern Wesleyan would not relent as Peyton Looky and Raines knocked down back-to-back three pointers.  Raines collected a ball from a missed shot and quickly took the ball down the court before laying it up into the basket.  Kyra Price put up a three pointer to regain the Warriors lead.  In the final seconds of the game, Price hit her second three pointer of the game to tie the game up at fifty-six points apiece.  The Warriors hit a couple free throws in the final seconds of the game to claim a 58-56 point victory over the Panthers.
