How It Happened
The Valkyries came out quickly as Kathryn Hoffman sent the ball in to the goal, but Katelyn O'Neill was able to defend the net from the attack. Southern Wesleyan answered as Ella McCowen and Fianna Steves put up shots, but Gabriella Gudeman and the Converse defense prevented both of the Warriors' attacks from landing. Samantha Novik got the ball past the defense and scored the only goal of the game for the Valkyries.
Ashley Cerqueira kicked off the second half with a shot on the goal, but once more Gabriella Gudeman was there to prevent the attack from finding the net. The Warriors persisted as Bailey Meyer and Riley Webb each put up shots. However, Gudeman and the Valkyries defense thwarted each of Southern Wesleyan's attacks on the net. Converse looked to extend on their lead, but Katelyn O'Neill saved the other attacks to prevent the Valkyries from extending on their lead any further. The Valkyries went on to claim a 1-0 goal victory.
