How It Happened

The Warriors went on the offensive just over a minute into the first half as Fianna Steves drove the ball toward the net, but Madison Gutierrez dove on top of the ball to keep Southern Wesleyan off the board.  The Wolves answered as they peppered shots in to the goal, but Amanda Magnin and the Warriors back line was able to prevent their attacks on the net from working.  Ashley Caballero sent the ball in to the net, but her attack was also thwarted.

The Wolves would not back down as Emily Castaneda drove the ball into the back of the net off a free kick to give Newberry the lead.  Southern Wesleyan attempted to tie the game up as Mackenzie Stinson, Camila Blanco and Bailey Meyer took turns attacking the net.  However, none of their attacks were able to find the back of the net.  Fifteen minutes into the second half, the Wolves picked up their second goal of the game this time off the foot of Isabella Tellez.    Jessie Parrott attempted to break into the Wolves lead, but her shot to the bottom center of the goal was scooped up by Madison Gutierrez.  The Wolves would score once more to claim a 3-0 victory over the Warriors.
