How It Happened

The Crusaders of Belmont Abbey went on the attack early as Sabrina Cunha sent the ball toward the low center section of the net, but Katelyn O'Neill was there to bat the ball away.  Belmont Abbey's attacks paid off just twelve minutes into the first half as Anna Richard was able to score off a pass from Jadyn Radestock.  Southern Wesleyan answered a couple minutes later as Fianna Steves controlled a free kick and was able to pass it over to Bailey Meyer.  Meyer sent the ball into the back of the net to allow the Warriors to tie the game up at one.  The Crusaders continued to pressure the Warrior as Fina Mochi collected a ricocheted shot and got it around a diving O'Neill.

Belmont Abbey pressed on in the second half as Sabrina Cunha sent in a rocket over the head of Katelyn O'Neill to extend the Crusaders lead to 3-1.  Karis Peterson was able to score the Crusaders fourth goal for Belmont Abbey.  Southern Wesleyan challenged as Ashley Caballero took a shot on the goal, but it was blocked by the Crusaders defense.  Katelyn O'Neill saved several more attacks on the goal by the Crusaders.  Belmont Abbey scored once more to win the game in a 5-1 final score.
