Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears on Tuesday evening in a 10-1 final score.
The Warriors totaled six hits in the loss with Marty Grisso leading the team with two hits including a double. Grisso went on to have the lone RBI of the game. Southern Wesleyan walked five times and had five players reach base after being hit by pitches.
Kamden Mongan started on the mound for the Warriors. Mongan pitched 3.2 innings and struck out one batter. Mason Clark, Coleman Wylie, Cayden Towell, Gehrig Schreiber and Matthew White all came in to pitch in relief. White led the team with three strikeouts.

How It Happened
Lenoir-Rhyne brought in the first runs of the game in the top of the third inning as a single by Cole Kaskows and then an error by the Warriors allowed two runs to come in to score.
The Warriors answered in the bottom of the inning. With one out, Ryan Postnieks singled and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Jack Dennison walked to put two on and bring Marty Grisso up to bat. Grisso put the ball into play as he hit a single through the left side to bring Postnieks in to cut the Bears lead in half.
However, the Bears answered in the top of the fourth inning as they were able to bring three more runs in to score.
Lenoir-Rhyne pushed further ahead in the top of the seventh inning as a double by Sal Carricat allowed Laskows to come in to score. Michael Loga hit into a fielder's choice that allowed Carricat to come in to score shortly afterwards.
Southern Wesleyan challenged in the bottom of the seventh inning as Gage Shaver and Cam Mitchem were each hit by a pitch to put two runners on and bring Niko Laing up to bat. Laing walked to load up the bases. However, the Bears were able to strike Jarrett Whitley out to prevent the Warriors from cutting into their lead.
The Bears continued to extend their lead in the top of the eighth inning as they brought three more runs in to score. Lenoir-Rhyne went on to win the game in a 10-1 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain at home on March 7-8 as they host the Chowan Hawks in Conference Carolinas action. They will then travel up to Hickory, NC on March 11 to take on the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears at 5pm. The Warriors will take on the Erskine Flying fleet on March 14-15.
