Young Harris, GA – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Young Harris Mountain Lions on Wednesday evening in a 19-2 final score.
The Warriors took nine shots with six being on cage in the loss to Young Harris. Aleiza Manns led the team with four shots on cage. Manns and Mack Moreau each scored. Ella McCowen picked up the lone assist.
Southern Wesleyan won nine draw controls. Both Lexi Richardson and Fianna Steves had four draws. The Warriors caused five turnovers. Fianna Steves led the team with six ground balls. Caroline Lark and Ava Lombardi shared time in cage. Lark picked up four saves and Lombardi had two.

How It Happened
Young Harris charged out of the gate as Addison Heiser and Riley Parker put in back-to-back goals. The Mountain Lions continued to distance themselves from the Warriors as Jess Sujishi recorded their third goal of the game. Lexi Richardson won the next draw and passed the ball out to Aleiza Manns. Manns wove toward the net and sent a shot in, but Abbie Gallagher collected the ball to prevent the Warriors from cutting into their lead. Southern Wesleyan went on the attack again, but Young Harris was able to thwart their attack as Sydney Craig flipped the ball into the cage in the final seconds to extend the Mountain Lions lead to 7-0.
The Mountain Lions continued to push ahead in the second quarter as Ashlyn Fraley sent the ball into the cage. Young Harris continued to thwart each of the Warriors attacks of the net. Hayley Billings took a shot on the cage, but it went just wide. With just under five minutes left in the match, a goal by Mary Troyer allowed the Mountain Lions to force the clock to run. Despite shots by Aleiza Manns, the Warriors trailed the Mountain Lions 11-0 at halftime.
Southern Wesleyan challenged in the third quarter. Ella McCowen collected the ball and flipped it over to Mack Moreau. Moreau fired the ball into the goal to put the Warriors back within ten. The Warriors maintained the pressure as Aleiza Manns helped clear the ball down the field and sent it right into the back of the cage to stop the clock from running. However, Young Harris would not back down as Mary Troyer scored once again to allow the Mountain Lions to regain the ten goal advantage.
Fianna Steves won the opening draw of the final quarter of the game, but the Mountain Lions pressured the Warriors defense to regain control of the ball. Young Harris would not relent as Addison Heiser scored two goals back-to-back. Steves picked up a ground ball and took the ball down the field. She got the ball over to Ella McCowen who took a shot on the cage, but Alyssa Rosenfeld saved the attack from meeting the back of the net. Young Harris went on to win the game in a 19-2 final score.
What's Next
The Warriors will return to Childs Field on April 1 as they host the Shorter Hawks at 6pm. They will then host the North Greenville Trailblazers on April 8. Southern Wesleyan will wrap up the regular season on April 18 as they travel to Franklin Springs, GA to take on the Emmanuel Lions.
