Murfreesboro, NC – Southern Wesleyan fell on the road to the Chowan Hawks in an 82-68 final score.
The Warriors shot 38.3% from the field and were 33.3% from beyond the arc. Asia Pearley (18), Alexis Glover (11) and Peyton Looky (10) all knocked down double digits. Rahkhia Mack led the team with four assists. Behind Mack, Kaliah Kendrick had three assists.
Southern Wesleyan collected 28 rebounds in the game with Asia Pearley leading the team with 10. Both Pearley and Alexis Glover had blocks. The Warriors stole the ball away ten times with Glover leading the team with three. Both Peyton Looky and Rahkhia Mack had two steals.

How It Happened
The Hawks charged out of the gate as Meara Carter laid the ball up into the basket. However, the Warriors countered with back-to-back baskets by Asia Pearley and Alexis Glover. With just under eight minutes on the clock, Peyton Looky stole the ball away from the Hawks and put up a three pointer. Sa'ni Savage laid the ball up, but the Warriors extended their lead to eight as Makayla Raines knocked down a three pointer. Lexie Ransom put up a three pointer to give Southern Wesleyan a 15-5 point lead. Carter laid the ball up once again, but the Warriors answered with a three pointer by Looky.
Chowan began chipping away at the Warriors' lead with layups by Meara Carter and Kaleah Boykin. Kyra Price passed the ball out beyond the arc to Asia Pearley who knocked down a three pointer. Pearley and Glover each laid the ball up into the basket to maintain the Warriors six point lead. However, the Hawks pushed on as Aniyah Rainey put up baskets. A layup out of the hands of Sa'ni Savage allowed the Hawks to tie the game up at thirty. The tie was short lived as Pearley hit a three pointer. Chowan countered as layups by Nyeshia Savage allowed them to take a 40-35 point lead at halftime.
A layup by Danea Mackey allowed the Hawks to extend their lead to seven points coming out of the half. However, the Warriors came right back to within five points on a jump shot by Alexis Glover. The Hawks pushed on with baskets by Adeline Smith and Yasmine Brown. With just under five minutes left on the clock, Meara Carter laid the ball up into the basket to give the Hawks a ten point lead. Kaliah Kendrick laid the ball up and then Peyton Looky put up a layup seconds later to put the Warriors back within six. Rahkhia Mack laid the ball up into the basket with thirty seconds on the clock, but the Hawks regained an eight point lead on a layup by Alexandra James-Fearon.
Chowan would not back down as Aniyah Rainey hit another jumper. The Warriors continued to challenge as Dynasty Shegog laid the ball up into the basket. Yasmine Brown and Rainey each laid the ball up to allow the Hawks to regain a ten point lead. Chowan continued to distance themselves with baskets by Kaleah Boykin and Meara Carter. Kaliah Kendrick laid the ball up with just over a minute left on the clock. However, the Warriors fell to the Hawks in an 82-68 final score.

Southern Wesleyan will wrap up the regular season on February 26 as they host the Shorter Hawks at 5pm.
