Franklin Springs, GA – Southern Wesleyan dropped a hard fought battle against the Emmanuel Lions on Tuesday evening in a 1-0 final score.
The Warriors out shot the Lions 14 to six in the loss on Tuesday. Emilio Cordero led the team with three shots, two being on target. Josiah Pitts and Sebastian Zumbado also had shots on goal during the game. Luke Bramblett played all ninety minutes in the goal and came away with two saves.

How It Happened
The Warriors won an early corner kick, but as Juan Daniel Rosales crossed it into the box, a Lion was able to head it away to prevent the Warriors' from taking the early lead. Leonardo Flores and Mason Councill each sent the ball toward the net, but neither of their attacks found the net. Emmanuel countered as Mario Ramirez attempted to give the Lions the lead, but Luke Bramblett scooped the ball up to prevent Emmanuel from gaining the lead. The Lions continued their attacks, but Luke Bramblett and the Warriors' back line prevented each of their attacks from landing. Southern Wesleyan challenged as Luis Lezama crossed the ball into the box, but once again the Lions were able to head the ball away to keep the game tied up 0-0 going into half time.
Emmanuel continued to attack the net in the second half as Rezhis Koxhaj took a couple shots on the goal, but the Warriors defense blocked his attacks at the net. However, a foul in the box allowed the Lions to take a penalty kick and Ignacio Doldan scored to give Emmanuel the lead. Southern Wesleyan fought back as Gabriel Melendez went to the net, but the Lions blocked the attack from tying the game up. Juan Daniel Rosales took a corner kick and sent the ball toward the goal, but his cross sailed just high of the net. The Warriors continued their attempts to tie the game up as Leonardo Flores took another shot, but once again it just missed the net. A foul allowed Josiah Pitts to send a shot toward the goal, but Bryan Amezcua controlled the ball to keep the Warriors from tying the game up. With just under seven minutes left in the match, Emilio Cordero collected the ball and drilled the ball toward the net. However, Amezcua was there once again to prevent the attack. Despite a last second shot by Cordero, the Warriors fell to the Lions in a 1-0 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain on the road on October 11 as they travel up to Murfreesboro, NC to take on the Chowan Hawks. They will return to Childs Field on October 18 to host the Young Harris Mountain Lions. On October 21, the Warriors will welcome the Erskine Flying Fleet to Central, SC.
