Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan picked up a draw against the Young Harris Mountain Lions on Saturday in a 1-1 final.
The Warriors out shot the Mountain Lions 12 to nine on Saturday. Vitallia Benforte, Ashley Caballero and Ella McCowen each had two shots on goal. Benforte picked up the lone goal of the game for the Warriors. Both McCowen and Hannah Kovalcik had assists. Katelyn O'Neill played all ninety minutes in the goal and picked up one save.

How It Happened
The Mountain Lions went on the attack early as Lauren Gauthier put up a shot on the goal, but Katelyn O'Neill was able to collect the ball to keep Young Harris off the board. Ashley Caballero drove to the net, but her attack was thwarted by Emily Jantz. Young Harris persisted as Charlotte Brown crossed the ball into the box to Lauren Gauthier. Gauthier got the ball into the net to allow the Mountain Lions to take the lead just ten minutes into the first half. The Warriors looked to cut into the Mountain Lions lead Caballero and Camila Blanco put up shots, but the Young Harris defense thwarted each of Southern Wesleyan's attacks.
Southern Wesleyan charged out of the gate in second half of the game as Camila Blanco sent the ball toward the net. However, once again, Emily Jantz was there to collect the ball. Vitallia Benforte went on the attack, but her first attack on the net was collected by Jantz. With under twenty minutes on the clock, Hannah Kovalcik crossed the ball into the lower corner of the box. Ella McCowen collected the ball before tapping it over to Vitallia Benforte who sent behind the keeper into the net to allow the Warriors to tie the game up. With five minutes on the clock, Charlotte Brown attempted to cross the ball into the box to a teammate, but Katelyn O'Neill dove on the ball to prevent Young Harris from taking the advantage. Both Warriors and Mountain Lions battled to gain the advantage in the final minutes of the game, but the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain at home on October 21 as they host the Erskine Flying Fleet at 5pm. They will then welcome the Lees-McRae Bobcats to Childs Field on October 25 at 1pm. The Warriors will travel to Rome, GA on October 28 to take on the Shorter Hawks.
