How It Happened
The Warriors came out strong in the first half as Bailey Meyer picked up the first shot of the game. They would not relent as Ella McCowen and Vitallia Benforte each attempted to get the Warriors on the board. However, each of their attacks were stopped by Valentina Santana. Meyer crossed the ball into the box to the feet of Camila Blanco. Blanco got the ball past Braeden Johnson in the goal to allow Southern Wesleyan to take the lead twenty-seven minutes into the first half. Southern Wesleyan would not relent their attacks as Ella McCowen sent a corner kick into the box. Maya Drew was there to knock the ball in to extend the Warriors lead to 2-0 at halftime.
Southern Wesleyan carried the intensity into the second half as Fianna Steves put up a shot. Steves' shot was blocked, but Brianna Gonzalez attempted to follow the rebound and head it into the goal. However, Braeden Johnson jumped up to knock the ball away from the net. Jessie Parrott wove around the defense and fired off several more attacks on the net, but none of the attacks would land. With just twenty minutes left in the half, Parrott was able to pass the ball up to Ashley Cerqueira. Cerqueira got the ball past the defense and into the net to give the Warriors a 3-0 goal lead. Erskine countered as Calleigh Hucksam and Rebekah Wiles each put up shots, but each attack was saved by Katelyn O'Neill. The Warriors walked away with a 3-0 shut out victory over the Flying Fleet.
