How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan controlled the ball early on in the game as they gained back-to-back corner kick opportunities. Bailey Meyer collected one of the corner kicks and put up a shot. However, the Flying Fleet's goalkeeper Valentina Santana collected the ball to prevent Southern Wesleyan from jumping out on top in the first half of the match. Shots by Ella Beasley and Madilyn Moles were also contained to keep the game tied 0-0 at halftime.
Fianna Steves got past the defense and put up a shot of her own just minutes into the start of the second half. Once again, Santana was there to collect Steves' ball from finding the net. The Warriors would not back down as a foul right outside the box allowed Ella Beasley to take a free kick. Beasley got the ball into the box to Madilyn Moles who tapped it over to Jessie Parrott. Parrott got the ball into the net for her first goal of the 2025 season. The Warriors looked to extend on their lead with shots by Steves and Laugane Dion, but Erskine prevented them from extending on their lead. Southern Wesleyan went on to claim a 1-0 goal victory over the Flying Fleet.
