Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Young Harris Mountain Lions on Wednesday evening in a 91-73 final score.
The Warriors shot 50% from the field and were 38.1% from beyond the arc. Taylin Smith led the team with 14 points. Rahkhia Mack (13) and Lexie Ransom (12) also posted double digits in the game. Southern Wesleyan recorded 16 assists in the game with Kyra Price picking up four. Peyton Looky was hot on her heels with three assists.
Southern Wesleyan pulled down 30 rebounds in the loss. Peyton Looky had five rebounds, and both Alexis Glover and Lexi Ransom recorded four. The Warriors stole the ball away seven times.

How It Happened
The Mountain Lions came out quickly as Annalise Malone put up a layup just seconds into the game. The Warriors answered as Rahkhia Mack knocked down a three. Taylin Smith hit a three pointer to give Southern Wesleyan a three point advantage. Their lead was short lived as seconds later Kamryn Bates hit a three of her own. The Warriors continued to knock down threes as Lexie Ransom collected her first of the night and Smith hit her second. Peyton Looky took the ball all the way to the basket and laid the ball up from in the paint.
Southern Wesleyan maintained their pressure in the second quarter as Dynasty Shegog put up a layup. A minute into the quarter, Lexie Ransom stole the ball away from the Mountain Lions and passed it down the court to Peyton Looky. Looky laid the ball up to extend the Warriors lead to five. Young Harris countered as Kamryn Bates passed the ball out beyond the arc to Ivona Miljanic who hit a three pointer to give the Mountain Lions back the lead. However, Kyra Price hit a three of her own just fifteen seconds later to put the Warriors back on top. With just over two minutes left in the second quarter, Rahkhia Mack knocked down another three pointer. The Warriors led the Mountain Lions 44-40 going into the locker room.
Young Harris fought back in the third quarter as a jump shot by Kamryn Bates tied the game up. Ivona Miljanic led the Mountain Lions as she sunk a three and then laid the ball up into the basket to give them a three point advantage. A jump shot by Dynasty Shegog kept the Warriors within four. Young Harris would not back down as free throws by Parahuia Delamere and Chassidy Fedd allowed them to extend their lead to nine. With just over three left in the quarter, Lexie Ransom collected a pass from Peyton Looky and stepped beyond the arc to knock down her second three of the game.
A three pointer by Courtney Davis gave the Mountain Lions a ten point lead to kick-off the final quarter. They pushed on as Kamryn Bates and Ivona Miljanic each made baskets. Lexie Ransom hit a jump shot, but the Mountain Lions upped the pressure as Miljanic put up multiple baskets. Young Harris continued to deter each of Southern Wesleyan's attacks on the net. DeYana Hayes laid the ball up in the final seconds of the game, but the Warriors fell to the Mountain Lions in a 91-73 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain at home on January 25 as they host the Barton Bulldogs at 2pm. They will then travel to Franklin Springs, GA on January 28 to take on the Emmanuel Lions. The Warriors will remain on the road on February 3 as they travel to Greenville, SC to take on the Bob Jones Bruins in non-conference action.
