"We had a good game plan going in and our team stuck to it very well! We had good ball possession and movement as well as finishing in the final third by multiple players, Excited to see another hat trick, this time by stand out freshman Jessie Parrott. Looking forward to our continued growth as a team as we head into a difficult stretch in our season."
How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan charged out of the gate just fifty two seconds into the first half as Alli Dalton sent the ball in toward the box off a corner kick. Karina Pashkovets headed the pass into net to put the Warriors ahead by one. The Warriors continued their attacks on the net as Alli Dalton took back-to-back shots on the net, but Mazey McKechnie saved her shots from landing to keep Southern Wesleyan from extending on their lead. However, Southern Wesleyan would not back down with several more attacks on the net. Ashley Cerqueira sent the ball up the field to Jessie Parrott who drilled it into the net to extend the Warriors lead to two. With just over twenty-nine minutes left in the first half, Taylor Carper passed the ball back up to Parrott. Parrott sent the ball into the net for the second time in the first half.
Jessie Parrott charged down the field to kick off the second half and sent the ball to the net yet again to complete her first collegiate hat trick. The Warriors maintained the intensity with shots by Alli Dalton, Bailey Meyer and Fianna Steves. Southern Wesleyan went on the attack once more, but Shorter managed to poke the ball back to almost the half. However, Ashley Caballero was there to collect the ball and sent it all the way back into the top corner of the net to extend the Warriors lead to 5-0. Taylor Carper and Helen Posey had their moments to shine within seconds of each other as they each scored their first goals of the season. Southern Wesleyan went on to win the game in a 7-0 final score.
