Southern Wesleyan Splits Series to Lees-McRae

Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan split the series against the Lees-McRae Bobcats on Saturday afternoon.  The Warriors fell in game one in a 7-0 final score.  They went on to claim game two 2-1.

The Warriors picked up three hits in game one.  Southern Wesleyan walked four times and Talissa Cannady stole a base.  Amberly Way started the first game of the afternoon and pitched five innings while striking out four.

Southern Wesleyan had six hits in the second game of the day with Addi Johnson leading the team with two.  Emmy Copeland picked up the two RBIs of the game off a triple.  The Warriors walked three times and both Johnson and Chalee Roper stole bases.  Olivia Haag pitched a complete game on the mound and struck out four batters.

How It Happened

Game One

Lees-McRae took the first run of the game in the top of the first inning.  The Bobcats plated more runs in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings to claim the first game 7-0.

 

 

 

Game Two

Southern Wesleyan struck in the bottom of the second inning in game two.  Hannah Truett led off by reaching on a single to center field.  However, Amberly Way hit into a fielder's choice that took Truett off the base pads.  Olivia Haag then singled to third base to put two runners on.  Emmy Copeland drilled the ball to deep left center field to bring both Way and Haag in to score and put the Warriors on top 2-0.

The Bobcats countered in the top of the third inning after a double by Foster brought Crowe in to score.  Southern Wesleyan prevented Lees-McRae from cutting further into their lead to claim a 2-1 game two victory.

 

 

 

 

 

What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will hit the road to Franklin Springs, GA on April 9 to take on the Emmanuel Lions.  They will remain on the road on April 12 as they take on the Young Harris Mountain Lions in Young Harris, GA.  The Warriors will return home on April 13 to host the North Greenville Crusaders.
