How It Happened

Game Two

In the top of the first inning the Warriors attacked the plate.  Taylor Palfrey reached first after being hit by a pitch and then advanced to second base as Addi Johnson walked.  With one out, Amberly Way singled to right field to bring Palfrey in to score.  Riley Brown came in to pinch run, but was caught stealing to take her off the bases.  Hannah Truett walked to put runners on the corners.  A wild pitch allowed Truett to advance to second.  Talissa Cannady walked.  With the bases loaded, Olivia Haag was hit by a pitch to bring Johnson in to score.  Riley Wilson drilled the ball to left field for a double that brought two runs in to score.  Madison Truett hit a single to bring Haag in to score and give the Warriors a 6-0 run lead.

The Lions countered in the bottom of the first inning as a double by Adams, and singles by Harrison and Feigen allowed four runs to come in to score.

Southern Wesleyan pushed on in the top of the sixth inning as Riley Wilson came up to bat and hit her seventh home run of the season over the right field wall.

Emmanuel fought back in the bottom of the sixth inning as they plated five runs off doubles by Bennett and Adams, and a single by Jordan to take a 9-7 run lead.

The Warriors were not done as they tied the game up in the top of the seventh inning.  Avery Mercer walked and then advanced to second when Hannah Truett was hit by a pitch.  McKenzie Babb and Chalee Roper came in to pinch run for both runners.  A passed ball allowed both to advance and get into scoring position.  A second passed ball allowed Babb to score.  With Roper on third, Talissa Cannady hit a sacrifice fly to bring Roper in to tie the game back up 9-9.

However, a walk-off home run by Feigen allowed the Lions to claim a 10-9 run victory over the Warriors.
