Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan hit top marks in their first home meet of the 2024 season. Abbey Frock breaks school record in the 5000 meters.

Track Results
100 Meters: The Warriors were led by Makayla Wilson in the 100 meters. Wilson took second place after finishing with a time of 12.23. She was closely followed by freshmen Sarah Richardson and Cianna Laginestra. Richardson took third after finishing with a time of 12.84 and Laginestra claimed fourth with a time of 12.96. Meshayla Maddox finished in 10th with a time of 13.80 and Alana Webster took 12th with a time of 14.29.
100m Hurdles: TraVon Lay led the whole field in the 100 meter hurdles as she finished with a time of 15.29.
200 Meters: Southern Wesleyan had two runners finish in the top four in the 200 meters. Makayla Wilson took third with a time of 26.02 and TraVon Lay finished in fourth with a time of 26.57. Finishing in 12th place was freshman Cianna Laginestra. Mesayla Maddox finished in 15th with a time of 29.16.
400 Meters: In the 400 meters, Freshman Alyse Davis finished in fifth place with a time of 1:02.49. She was followed by Lauryn Tate in ninth with a time of 1:02.85 and Ava LaBrant in 10th with a time of 1:03.83.
400m Hurdles: Kayla Lema led the whole field in the 400m hurdles as she finished with a time of 1:07.12.
1500 Meters: Freshman Evelyn Gordon led the whole field in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:00.76. Merritt Smith and Abbey Frock were the next two Warriors to finish. Smith took third with a time of 5:12.90 and Frock finished in fourth with a time of 5:14.59. Coming in seventh, Emma Dixon finished with a time of 5:24.43. She was followed by her sister, Janey Dixon, who took 11th with a time of 5:34.61. Divinity Ervin and Haley Morgan were the next two Warriors to cross the finish line. Ervin finished in 12th with a time of 5:38.20 and Morgan took 14th with a time of 5:42.60. Gisselle Lopez wrapped up the field for the Warriors as she took 20th with a time of 6:11.46.
5000 Meters: Abbey Frock just missed first place in the 5000 meters. Frock's took second after claiming a time of 19:01.48 to break the previous school record by twenty seconds.
4x100 Meter Relay: Southern Wesleyan's team of Alyse Davis, Makayla Wilson, Cianna Laginestra and Sarah Richardson took first place in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 49.27.
4x400 Meter Relay: In the 4x400 meter relay, Southern Wesleyan's team of Merritt Smith, Abbey Frock, Ava LaBrant and Evelyn Gordon took second with a time of 4:19.92.
Field Results
Javelin: Alexandria Luther took second place in the javelin after her throw of 27.68 meters. Luther was followed by teammate Lakin Long in sixth place with a throw of 23.45 meters.
Long Jump: Freshman Zy'Adriya Johnson finished in second in the long jump after she jumped a distance of 4.74 meters in her fourth jump of the afternoon. Johnson was followed by Alana Webster who took seventh with a jump of 3.49 meters.
Pole Vault: Ava LaBrant cleared a height of 3.00 meters in the pole vault to take first place.
Hammer: The Warriors were led by Lakin Long in the hammer throw. Long threw 32.50 meters to put her in fourth place. She was followed by Gracie Wilson and Alexandria Luther. Wilson claimed eighth after throw 24.95 meters and Luther finished in 10th after throwing 22.33 meters.
Triple Jump: Zy'Adriya Johnson finished fourth in the triple jump after her jump of 10.25 meters.
Shot Put: In the shot put, Alexandria Luther finished seventh with a throw of 9.36. She was followed by teammate Gracie Wilson in 10th with a throw of 8.20 meters.
High Jump: Gavi Elswick finished in seventh with a jump of 1.40 meters.
Discus: Freshman Gracie Wilson finished just shy of first place in the discus on Saturday. Wilson threw 37.46 meters to put her in second place. She was followed by Lakin Long who took sixth with a throw of 26.72 meters and Alexandria Luther in ninth with a throw of 25.88 meters.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will take part in the John Hunter Classic in Columbia, SC on March 15. They will then travel to Montreat, NC to take part in the Montreat Invitational on March 22-23 before returning to Central, SC on March 29 to host the Gotta Run Invite.
