Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Limestone Saints on Wednesday evening in an 8-4 final score.
The Warriors collected 11 hits against the Saints. Clay Porter led the team with three hits with both Luke Staton and Blayze Haddock following with two hits. Staton led the team with three of the four RBIs as he hit his first home run in a Warriors uniform. The other RBI came off the bat of Cam Mitchem. Southern Wesleyan walked three times and both Travis Hammond and Haddock stole bases.
Alex Sweeny started on the mound for the Warriors as he pitched 2.2 innings and struck out one batter. Seven Warriors came in to pitch in relief. Jaylen Morgan led the team with two strikeouts. Both Christopher Hund and Jackson Turner had solo strikeouts.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan struck first in the neutral site competition at Fluer Field. Jason Culley reached first on a fielding error by the second baseman. With one out, Marty Grisso grounded out to allow Culley to advance to second. Cam Mitchem hit a single up the middle to bring Culley in to score to give the Warriors the lead.
A home run by Shuler and a double by Greenberg brought two runs in to score to give the Saints a 2-1 run lead. They pushed on in the bottom of the third inning as a double by Troyer brought Turner in to score.
The Warriors fought back in the top of the fourth inning. With two outs, Justin Purdom and Derek Francis each walked to put two on and bring Luke Staton up to bat. Staton drilled the ball over the left field wall for his first home run of the season to put Southern Wesleyan back on top 4-3.
Limestone was not done as they plated runs in the bottom of the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to win the game in an 8-4 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will travel to Franklin Springs, GA on March 15-16 to take on the Emmanuel Lions in Conference Carolinas action. They will remain on the road on March 19 as they travel to Anderson, SC as they take on the Anderson Trojans. The Warriors will return home on March 22-23 as they host the King Tornado for the Homecoming week celebrations.
