How It Happened

Game One

Southern Wesleyan kicked off the scoring in the top of the first inning.  Taylor Palfrey led off with a walk and then stole second base.  With Palfrey on second, Avery Mercer ground out to shortstop.  Palfrey was able to advance to third on the throw and then came in to score on an error by the first baseman to put the Warriors on top 1-0.

Georgia College tied the game right back up in the bottom of the first inning as Owens hit a single to bring Hobbs in to score.  They were not done as they scored more runs off a double by Gutierrez and single by Condland to give them a 4-1 run advantage.

In the top of the second inning, the Warriors threatened the Bobcats.  Hannah Truett reached on a walk, but then was taken off the bases as Olivia Haag hit into a fielder's choice.  Riley Wilson came up to the plate and drilled the ball over the center field wall for a home run to put Southern Wesleyan within one run of Georgia College.

The Bobcats regained their three run advantage in the bottom of the second on a triple by Hobbs and a ground out by Caldwell.  They pushed on as they plated four more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 10-4 run lead.

Amberly Way kicked off the seventh inning for Southern Wesleyan as she hit a home run over the left field wall.  However, the Warriors fell to the Bobcats in game one 10-4.

Game Two

Georgia College attack the plate early as they brought runs in to score in the bottom of the second and third innings.

In the top of the fourth inning, the Warriors brought two runs in to score.  Taylor Palfrey led off with a triple to center field.  With one out and Avery Mercer up to bat, a passed ball allowed Palfrey to come in to score.  Mercer continued her at bat and drilled the ball over the left center field wall for her third home run in two days to put Southern Wesleyan behind Georgia College 6-2.
