Winston-Salem, NC – Southern Wesleyan finished in seventh place at Conference Carolinas' Indoor Track and Field Championship over the weekend.  The Warriors broke two school records in the process.

How It Happened

Track Results

60 Meters: In the preliminaries of the 60 meters, Makayla Wilson took 12^th with a time of 7.92.  Wilson was followed by freshman sprinters Sarah Richardson and Alyse Davis.  Richardson took 17^th with a time of 8.19 and Davis took 25^th with a time of 11.84.

60 Meter Hurdles: In the 60 meter hurdles, TraVon Lay took 10^th with a time of 9.49 and Kayla Lema took 11^th with a time of 9.65.

200 Meters: Southern Wesleyan was led in the 200 meter preliminaries by Alyse Davis with a time of 27.20.  Right behind her, Makayla Wilson took 21^st with a time of 27.36.  Cianna Laginestra finished in 25^th with a time of 28.83.

400 Meters: Kayla Lema finished the 400 meter preliminaries in 15^th with a time of 1:03.82.  Lema was followed by TraVon Lay in 20^th with a time of 1:06.12.

800 Meters. In the 800 meters, freshman Evelyn Gordon took second with a time of 2:22.70 to earn All-Conference Second Team honors.  Janey Dixon finished in 20^th with a time of 2:40.95.

Mile: Evelyn Gordon broke the record in the mile as her time of 5:24.79 allowed her to finish in ninth place.  She was followed by Emma Dixon who took 17^th place with a time of 5:49.09.

3000 Meters: The Warriors were led by Abbey Frock in the 3000 meters.  Frock took seventh with a time of 10:45.92.  She was followed by Divinity Ervin who took 20^th with a time of 12:26.70.

5000 Meters: Abbey Frock led the Warriors in the 5000 meters as she finished in eighth with a time of 18:46.43.

4x400 Meter Relay: In the 4x400 meter relay, the Warriors team of Kayla Lema, Alyse Davis, Makayla Wilson and TraVon Lay took fourth with a time of 4:12.70.

Distance Medley Relay: The Warriors distance medley relay team of Emma Dixon, Cianna Laginestra, Janey Dixon and Haley Morgan took ninth place as they finished with a time of 14:21.19.

Field Results

Long Jump: In the long jump, Zy'Adriya Johnson took 17^th with a jump of 4.83 meters.  She was followed by Makayla Wilson in 20^th with a jump of 4.61 meters.

Pole Vault: Ava LaBrant took third in the pole vault as she cleared a height of 3.10 meters.  Her height allowed her to take All-Conference Third Team honors.

Shot Put: Southern Wesleyan was led by freshman Alexandria Luther in the shot put.  Luther finished in 14^th with a throw of 9.17 meters.  Behind her are Lakin Long and Gracie Wilson.  Long took 16^th with a throw of 8.97 meters and Wilson took 20^th with a throw of 8.34 meters.

Triple Jump: Zy'Adriya Johnson took 13^th with a jump of 10.01 meters.

Weight Throw: In the weight throw, Lakin Long took 15^th with a throw of 10.44 meters.  Alexandria Luther was right behind her in 16^th after throw a distance of 9.45 meters.  Behind them, Gracie Wilson took 17^th with a throw of 9.42 meters.

What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will kick off the Outdoor Track and Field season on March 2 as they host the Susan Rouse Invitational.  They will then travel to Columbia, SC to take part in the John Hunter Classic.
