How It Happened

The Mountain Lions started strong as a layup by Crystal Corley put them on the board, however a jump shot by Alexis Glover seconds later allowed the Warriors to tie the game up.  Corley hit a three, but back-to-back baskets by Shelby Glance and Glover allowed Southern Wesleyan to take the lead.  Lexi Greffen stole the ball and raced down the court to lay it up to extend the Warriors lead to 10-7 with just over four minutes on the clock.  The lead was short lived as Jamari Frederick stole the ball and laid it up to give the Mountain Lions the advantage.

Southern Wesleyan kicked off the second quarter with a three pointer by Shelby Glance to put them back within five of Young Harris.  Glance hit another shot, but the Mountain Lions countered with a layup by Jamari Frederick.  Parahuia Delamere fired off a shot from beyond the arc.  Both teams kept the other off the board for three minutes before Kamryn Bates hit a free throw to give the Mountain Lions a six point lead with just under two minutes on the clock.  A last second jump shot by Tristen Berry allowed the Warriors to trail the Mountain Lions 26-20 at halftime.

Young Harris picked up from where they left off as Kamryn Bates laid the ball up into the basket to start the third quarter.  The Warriors countered with a layup by Tristen Berry.  The Mountain Lions pushed on as baskets by Crystal Corley and Bates gave them a fifteen point lead.  Southern Wesleyan came to within eleven points of Young Harris on baskets by Kaliah Kendrick and Jordan Race.

In the fourth quarter, Alexis Glover started the scoring off for the Warriors as she collected a pass from Taylin Smith and laid the ball up into the basket.  Another layup by Glover cut the Mountain Lions lead down to single digits.  However, with just over six minutes on the clock, Crystal Corley stole the ball and passed it under the basket to Dustie Obah who laid it up to regain the Mountain Lions' eleven point lead.  Asia Pearly and Shelby Glance each laid the ball up into the basket.  Despite late layups by Tristen Berry and Kaliah Kendrick, the Warriors fell to the Mountain Lions in a 54-49 final score.
