Wilson, NC – Southern Wesleyan took down the Barton Bulldogs in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon in a 76-67 final score.
The Warriors shot 43.3% from the field and went 47.1% from beyond the arc in their second victory in program history over the Bulldogs. Asia Pearly led the team with 17 points with Lexi Greffen (14) and Kaliah Kendrick (11) rounding out the double digit scorers. Greffen went on to lead the team with nine assists.
Southern Wesleyan totaled 47 rebounds with Asia Pearly picking up 11 on her own to give her a double-double. Both Lexi Greffen and Shelby Glance had nine rebounds. Glance blocked four Bulldog attacks and went on to lead the team with four steals.

How It Happened
The Bulldogs took the first points of the game on a jump shot by Nyla Powell. However, Alexis Glover laid the ball up into the basket to tie the game seconds later. The Warriors pushed on as Kaliah Kendrick hit back-to-back three pointers to put the Warriors on top 8-2. Glover collected an offensive rebound and laid it back up into the basket. Shelby Glance sent the ball beyond the arc to Lexi Greffen. Greffen put the ball up into the basket to extend the Warriors lead to fourteen points with just over five minutes left in the first quarter. The Warriors would not relent their attacks as Asia Pearly laid the ball up into the basket on back-to-back occasions.
Barton challenged early in the second quarter as Lauren Walker collected a pass from Lauren Mingo and put up a three pointer. They came to within fourteen points of the Warriors as Payton Sutton drove to the basket and laid the ball up. However, the Warriors countered with a layup by Jordan Race to take a 26-10 point lead. Lexi Greffen passed the ball under the basket to Dynasty Shegog who laid the ball up into the basket. A layup by Asia Pearly allowed the Warriors to take a 20-point lead with just under five minutes left in the quarter. Kaliah Kendrick drove to the basket and laid the ball up. Free throws by Walker allowed the Bulldogs to stay within twenty. Erial Owens hit baskets for the Bulldogs, but the Warriors countered with a jump shot by Shelby Glance. The Warriors led 43-22 going into the locker room.
A foul early in the third quarter allowed Nyla Powell to go to the free throw line. She hit both of her shots to put the Bulldogs within nineteen. Kaliah Kendrick passed the ball under the basket to Asia Pearly for a layup in the paint. Cierra Revelle put up a basket from beyond the arc. With just over seven minutes left in the third quarter, Asia Pearly laid the ball up off a pass from Shelby Glance. Back-to-back layups by Pearly put the Warriors back ahead by twenty-one. Barton fought back as Lauren Mingo and Lauren Walker each put up baskets to put them within thirteen. Taylin Smith hit a three and then a last second layup by Dynasty Shegog gave the Warriors a 58-46 point lead at the end of the quarter.
Two minutes into the final quarter, Lexi Greffen drove to the basket and laid the ball up. Lauren Walker and Taylin Smith exchanged three pointers. Payton Sutton stole the ball away and sent it down the court to Lauren Mingo who drove to the basket for layup. Taylin Smith collected a pass from Lexi Greffen and fired off her third three pointer of the game to extend the Warriors lead to fourteen. Walker hit a jump shot, but Lexi Greffen countered with a layup of her own to keep the Warriors on top by eight. Walker continued to press as she hit a three pointer with just under three on the clock. Shelby Glance passed the ball under the basket to Asia Pearly who laid the ball up into the basket. Lexi Greffen drove to the basket and laid the ball up to give the Warriors a 76-67 point victory over the Barton Bulldogs.

The Warriors will return to Central, SC on February 14 as they host the Young Harris Mountain Lions at 5pm. They will then host the Converse Valkyries on February 17 at 2pm. Southern Wesleyan will travel to Due West, SC on February 21 to take on the Erskine Flying Fleet.
