How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan charged out of the gate as Madelyn Graf drilled the ball toward the back of the net, but A'Leigh Coleman saved the attack from paying off. The Warriors remained on the offensive as Taylor Carper took a shot, but it missed just wide of the net. Emmanuel fought back as a corner kick led to Jillian Aldrich scoring the first goal of the afternoon to give the Lions the advantage.
A foul in the box early in the second half sent Karina Pashkovets to the penalty mark. Pashkovets got the ball past the goal keeper to allow the Warriors to tie the game up. Emmanuel continued to challenge the Southern Wesleyan defense with shots by Sydne Stoker and Kinsey Bishop. Bishop pushed past the Warriors defense to score and allow the Lions to regain the lead. Fianna Steves and Pashkovets each took more shots on the goal, but the Warriors could not find the back of the net as the Lions took the game in a 2-1 final.
