How It Happened
Erskine charged out of the gate as just twenty seconds into the match Jorge Torres-Cortes collected a pass from Andreas Aspris and scored to give the Flying Fleet the early advantage. The Warriors countered as Theo Buckeridge took a shot at the net, but Beckham Boomershine saved the attack from finding the net. Leonardo Flores and Buckeridge took successive attacks on the net, but once again their attacks were thwarted by the Flying Fleet. Southern Wesleyan would not back down as Michael Boyle picked up a pass from Noah Koch and drove around the defense before sending the ball past a diving Boomershine to tie the match up at 1-1. The Flying Fleet countered, but Brodrick White's shot on the goal was blocked from reaching the net. Feren Nunez drilled the ball toward the net, but it was deflected by the Flying Fleet defense. Erskine pushed on with shots by Andreas Aspris, but Luke Bramblett and the Warriors defense thwarted each attempt on gaining the lead.
Southern Wesleyan continued to press in the second half as Leonardo Flores sent in an attack on the net, but a late foul call prevented his attack from allowing the Warriors from taking the advantage. A foul right outside the box allowed the Flying Fleet to take a free kick, but Luke Bramblett punched the attack away. Alberto Esquivel sent the ball toward the net, but the Flying Fleet defense blocked the attack from paying off in the end. Southern Wesleyan continued to pepper the net as Diego Hernandez drilled the ball toward the goal, but his shot ricocheted off the post to keep the Warriors from taking lead. Shots by Leonardo Flores and Josiah Pitts just missed finding the back of the net. Tipton Wright sent the ball straight toward the net, but once again Beckham Boomershine dove in front of the net to save the senior captain's attack on the goal from playing off. Southern Wesleyan continued to push on but attacks by Hernandez and Flores were each blocked. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
