How It Happened

The Bobcats and Warriors battled it out for the first three minutes of the game before a three pointer by Logan Dutka put Lees-McRae on the board.  Southern Wesleyan countered as Kaliah Kendrick passed the ball over to Shelby Glance who sunk a three pointer from beyond the arc.  The Warriors stayed within two as Taylin Smith hit a three pointer.  A pull up good jump shot by Leah Barringer allowed the Bobcats to extend their lead to six.

Southern Wesleyan started strong in the second quarter as Alexis Glover sent the ball out beyond the arc to Shelby Glance.  Glance sent the ball into the basket for her second three pointer of the afternoon.  However, back-to-back baskets by Emily Barr allowed Lees-McRae to extend their lead to 21-15.  Glance sunk another three pointer to put the Warriors right back within three.  A three pointer by Dianna Spence allowed Lees-McRae to extend their lead to ten points with just over five minutes left in the quarter.  The Warriors would not go down easily as Tristen Berry sunk the ball from beyond the arc and then seconds later Lexi Greffen hit a pull up jump shot.  Dynasty Shegog passed the ball back out beyond the arc to Tristen Berry who hit her second three pointer to cut the Bobcats lead down to 29-27.  A last second layup by Asia Pearly allowed the Warriors to trail the Bobcats 32-31 going into the locker room.

The Warriors charged out of the gate in the third quarter as Shelby Glance put up a jump to give the Warriors their first lead of the game.  Lexi Greffen stole the ball from Logan Dutka and raced to the net for a layup to extend the Warriors lead to three.  The Bobcats countered on a driving layup by Emily Barr.  Alexis Glover put up a jump shot to keep the Warriors on top by four with just over seven minutes left in the quarter.  Glover passed the ball under the basket to Greffen who put up a reverse layup for the Warriors.  The Bobcats challenged as Emily Barr put up a layup, but a floating jump shot by Asia Pearly allowed the Warriors to stay ahead by four.  With twenty seconds on the clock, Pearly passed the ball beyond the arc to Dynasty Shegog for a three pointer to extend the Warriors lead to 53-45.

Lees-McRae continued to challenge the Warriors as Emily Barr laid the ball up into the basket early in the final quarter.  The Bobcats pushed on as another layup by Barr put them within three points.  Lexi Greffen sent the ball beyond the arc to Shelby Glance.  Glance put up her fourth three point basket of the night to allow the Warriors to regain their six point lead with just over six minutes left in the final quarter of the game.  Asia Pearly laid the ball up into the basket.  Tristen Berry passed the ball over to Pearly to set her up to make another basket and extend the Warriors lead to nine.  Berry stole the ball away and drove to the basket to lay the ball up and extend the Warriors lead to 66-53.  With just over a minute on the clock, Asia Pearly laid the ball up into the basket off a pass from Berry.  The Warriors went on to win the game in a 71-55 final score.
