Spartanburg, SC – The Warriors picked up their third Conference Carolinas victory of the season on Wednesday evening as they defeated the Converse Valkyries in a 65-60 final score.
Southern Wesleyan shot 39.2% from the field and were 67.7% from the free throw line on Wednesday. Lexi Greffen led the Warriors as she posted a career high 23 points. Greffen was followed by Shelby Glance with 16 points and Tristen Berry with 15 points. The Warriors had nine assists with Greffen picking up two.
The Warriors totaled 38 rebounds with Rahkhia Mack leading the team with seven. Both Shelby Glance and Asia Pearly had five boards. Tristen Berry and Alexis Glover each had blocks. The Warriors stole the ball away nine times.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan attacked quickly as Tristen Berry stole the ball away and put up a pull up good jump shot from beyond the arc. The Valkyries countered with a layup by Sydney Wilson, but a three pointer by Shelby Glance allowed the Warriors to extend their lead to four. Sierra Jones stepped beyond the arc to collect a pass from Zariyah Washington and sunk a three to cut the Warriors lead down to one. Converse took the lead on a layup by Wilson, but a pull up jump shot by Lexi Greffen put the Warriors back on top.
The Valkyries continued to challenge the Warriors offense as a layup by Elisa Sole Sanchez put them ahead by three. Tristen Berry and Shelby Glance hit jump shots to keep the Warriors within one point of the Valkyries. A second jump shot by Glance allowed the Warriors to regain the lead. However, it was short lived as Sanchez hit a three pointer. Southern Wesleyan pushed on as Rahkhia Mack sent the ball beyond the arc to Glance. Glance fired off a three pointer to put the Warriors on top 23-20 with just over three minutes on the clock. However, the Valkyries would not back down as Sydney Wilson hit back to back baskets. A last second driving layup by Lexi Greffen allowed the Warriors to trail the Valkyries 26-25 going into the locker room.
Converse kicked off the third quarter with a driving layup by Sierra Jones, but a three pointer by Tristen Berry allowed the Warriors to tie the game back up seconds later. Shelby Glance hit a pull up jump shot. Asia Pearly passed the ball up the court to Lexi Greffen. Greffen hit a jump shot to extend the Warriors lead to three. The Valkyries challenged back as Zariyah Washington drove to the basket for a layup.
The Warriors fought back as Lexi Greffen hit a pull up jump shot to keep them ahead by one. Taylin Smith hit a jump shot to keep the Warriors on top. Sydney Wilson laid the ball up into the basket and was fouled in the process to earn the and one basket. However, Shelby Glance stole the ball away from Zariyah Washington seconds later and passed it down the court to Lexi Greffen. Greffen laid the ball up to extend the Warriors lead to four points. Amaia Parkins laid the ball up for the Valkyires, but the Warriors countered with a layup by Dynasty Shegog. Tristen Berry and Lexi Greffen each put up layups to extend Southern Wesleyan's lead to eight. Colbie Perry stepped beyond the arc and hit a three pointer with just over a minute on the clock. Southern Wesleyan claimed a 65-60 point victory over Converse.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will return to Central, SC on January 13 as they host the Erskine Flying Fleet. They will remain at home on January 17 as they host the King Tornado at 5pm. The Warriors will then travel to Franklin Springs, GA to take on the Emmanuel Lions on January 20.
