How It Happened

The Crusaders charged out of the gate, going on a 11-0 run before a layup by Alexis Glover put the Warriors on the board.  Back-to-back three pointers by Cate Schieber extended their lead to fifteen.  They continued to shut the Warriors offense down.  A last second jump shot by Dynasty Shegog ended the quarter.

Southern Wesleyan picked up the intensity in the second quarter with layups by Dynasty Shegog.  Peyton Nation laid the ball up to extend the Crusaders lead to twenty-seven.  Rahkhia Mack collected an offensive rebound and laid the ball up into the basket.  With just under three minutes on the clock, Kaliah Kendrick stole the ball away and fired off a three pointer.  Southern Wesleyan trailed Belmont Abbey 38-15 at halftime.

Belmont Abbey continued their intensity in the third quarter with a jump shot by Riley James and another three out of the hands of Cate Schieber.  However, the Warriors countered with layups by Alexis Glover and Lexi Greffen.  Greffen stepped beyond the arc and sunk a three pointer.  The Crusaders would not back down their attacks as Dearia Page put up a jump shot.

Riley James sunk the ball into the net to kick off the final quarter.  Lexi Greffen countered with a layup and was fouled on the play to earn the and-one basket.  Seconds later, Dynasty Shegog collected the ball and laid it up into the basket from in the paint.  However, a three pointer by Katie Story allowed the Crusaders to take a 70-33 point lead.  Taylin Smith collected a pass and stepped beyond the arc to hit a three.  Asia Pearly and Smith each put the ball into the basket.  However, the Crusaders pushed on to win the game in a 78-44 final score.
