Mount Olive, NC – Southern Wesleyan fell on the road to the University of Mount Olive Trojans on Saturday afternoon in a 4-1 final.
The Warriors took four shots with three on goal in the loss to the Trojans. Madi Wurst led the team with two shots on goal while Madelyn Graf followed with one shot on goal. Wurst recorded the lone goal for the Warriors. Katelyn O'Neill played all ninety minutes in goal and picked up 13 saves.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan attacked quickly as a foul allowed Madi Wurst to take free kick. Wurst sent the free kick into the top right corner of the goal to give the Warriors the early lead. Mount Olive fought back as Addison Dangler and Jaslyn Gott all took shots on the goal, but Katelyn O'Neill and the Warriors back line saved each attack. The Trojans maintained the intensity, but the Warriors countered on a shot by Wurst. However, Samantha Gildner saved her second attack on the net from paying off.
Mount Olive came out strong in the second half as corner kick allowed Addison Dangler to take a shot into the top left of the goal to tie the game up 1-1. Southern Wesleyan fought back as Madelyn Graf took a shot on the goal, but Smanatha Gildner stood strong on the back line to keep the Warriors from regaining the lead. Back-to-back goals by Makenna Copley and Olivia Womack allowed Mount Olive to take the lead. A second goal by Womack allowed the Trojans to claim a 4-1 victory.

Southern Wesleyan will return to Childs Field on October 3 as they host the Emmanuel Lions at 5 pm. They will then travel to Tigerville, SC on October 7 to take on the North Greenville Crusaders.
