How It Happened:
The Warriors had a lethargic start to the game, as has been the case far too frequently so far this season. The Mountain Lions took the lead just 18 Seconds into the game, following a miscue in possession from the Warriors. Unfortunately, it would be much of the same for almost the entirety of the first half. Young-Harris dazzled in possession carving through the SWU Defense to create chance after chance. The Mountain Lions put 5 past the Warriors in the first half, getting goals from Saad Maziane, Riccardo Sambugaro, Charlie Wilde, and two from Thomas Kleinpenning. The Warriors made some rotations to end the half, but the starters did have some better play at the beginning of the second 45. They created some solid chances through the hold-up play of
Brody Schroeder and the combination between
Diego Hernandez and
Ryan Rodriguez in the midfield. After 35 solid minutes, the Mountain Lions once again broke through the Warrior Defense and scored twice in the final 10 minutes to secure the 3 points.
Diego Hernandez was named the "Warriors' Spark Plug of the Game", a team-selected award for a player who brought high energy and an impactful performance. Hernandez was the bright in attack for the Warriors and was the closest to finding the back of the net.
What's Next:
The Warriors get a break from Conference Carolinas play on Wednesday night when they host Carolina University. After that, they will travel to Mount Olive on Friday, September 29th.
