Wilson, NC – The Warriors dropped both games in the series opening double header against the Barton Bulldogs on Thursday. They fell 13-1 in game one and then dropped game two in a 4-2 final score.
Southern Wesleyan picked up eight hits in game one with
Travis Hammond leading the team with two hits.
Marty Grisso doubled during the game. The lone RBI came off a sacrifice fly by
Dawson Gilstrap. The Warriors walked three times and
Chance Fogel picked up a stolen base.
Cord Babcock started on the mound with
Andrew Patterson,
Christian Cassidy,
Ash Faulk and
Juan Garcia all coming in to pitch in relief. Patterson led the team with two strikeouts.
The Warriors had four hits in game two.
Cam Mitchem picked up his eighth home run of the season. Both Mitchem and
Josh Long recorded RBIs.
Chance Fogel was the lone Warrior to walk, and both Fogel and
Jackson Mix were hit by pitches.
Steven Mufareh started on the mound and pitched 5.2 innings.
George Schodowski came in to pitch in relief.

How It Happened
Game One
The Bulldogs came out swinging in the first inning as they took an early 4-0 run advantage. They extended their lead by plating seven runs in the fourth inning. Barton went on to score again in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Warriors challenged in the top of the ninth inning. With one out,
Josh Long singled to right field. A single to left center by
Noah Wiggins allowed Long to advance to third.
Dawson Gilstrap then hit a sacrifice fly to center field that brought Long in to score. However, the Warriors fell to the Bulldogs in a 13-1 final score.
Game Two
Barton plated the first run of the second game of the afternoon in the bottom of the second inning as a single by Hoffman allowed McNamee to cross home plate.
The Warriors countered in the top of the fourth inning. With one out,
Cam Mitchem drilled the ball over the left field wall for his eighth home run of the season to tie the game up.
Chance Fogel reached first after being hit by a pitch. A fielding error allowed
Marty Grisso to reach first and advanced Fogel to second. With two outs and runners at first and second,
Josh Long singled to right field to bring Fogel across home plate to put Southern Wesleyan on top 2-1.
The lead was short lived as Waddell homered in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game back up 2-2. Barton continued to pressure the Warriors in the bottom of the sixth inning as a sacrifice fly by McNamee and single by Beebe allowed the Bulldogs to take a 4-2 run victory over the Warriors.
What's Next
The Warriors will wrap up the series against the Barton Bulldogs on April 7 at 1 p.m. They will then return to Dr. C Keith Connor Field as they host the Anderson Trojans on April 11 at 6 p.m. Southern Wesleyan will travel to Gaffney, SC on April 12 to take on the Limestone Saints before returning to Central, SC to host the University of Mount Olive Trojans on April 14-15.
