Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan dropped both games in the double header against the Emmanuel Lions on Wednesday evening in 11-0 and 10-3 final scores.
The Warriors picked up five hits in game one with both Emma Jo Wolfe and Emmy Copeland recording two hits. The other hit of the afternoon came off the bat of Addi Johnson. Wolfe doubled in the game. Johnson had the lone stolen base and walk of the afternoon. Ella Grace Lawton started on the mound and pitched 5.1 innings while striking out one batter.
Southern Wesleyan totaled nine hits in the second game of the day. Sarah Prater led the team by going three for four on the afternoon. She was followed by Ryanne Yarborough with two hits. Addi Johsnon, Yarborough and Prater all had doubles, and Prater went yard during the match-up. Yarborough picked up two of the three RBIs. The Warriors walked three times and Autumn Barnhardt was hit by a pitch. Emma Jo Wolfe started game two and pitched four innings while striking out two batters.

How It Happened
Game One
Ella Grace Lawton kept the Lions off the board until the top of the fifth inning. Emmanuel scored two runs off a double by Jordan and a single by Adams to take a 2-0 run lead. The Lions went on to score again in the sixth and seventh innings to win game one 11-0.
Game Two
Southern Wesleyan struck first in game two. With two outs, Addi Johnson walked and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Ryanne Yarborough singled through the left side to bring Johnson in and give the Warriors a 1-0 run advantage.
The lead was short lived as a double by Curry brought two runs in to give the Lions a 2-1 lead in the top of the second inning. Emmanuel pushed on with runs in the top of the third, fourth and fifth innings.
Once again with two outs on the board, the Warriors struck this time in the bottom of the fifth inning. Addi Johnson reached first on a walk and then came in to score on a double by Ryanne Yarborough.
The Lions were not down as they brought three more runs in to score in the top of the seventh inning.
The Warriors challenged in the bottom of the seventh inning as a Sarah Prater drilled the ball over the center field wall. However, the Warriors fell to the Lions in a 10-3 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will travel up to the mountains of Banner Elk, NC on April 12 to take on the Lees-McRae Bobcats. They will remain on the road on April 14 as they venture over to Belmont, NC to take on the Belmont Abbey Crusaders. The Warriors will return to Varsity Field on April 15 to take on the North Greenville Crusaders.
