How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan came out swinging in the bottom of the first inning.  Jackson Mix led off the inning with a single up the middle, and then advanced to third base as Noah Wiggins hit a double to right center field.  Cam Mitchem singled through the left side to bring both Wiggins and Mix in to score and put the Warriors on top 2-0.  An error by the first baseman allowed Chance Fogel to reach first and advanced Mitchem to second base.  With two outs and two on, Josh Long was hit by a pitch to load up the bases.  A wild pitch then allowed Mitchem to come in to give the Warriors a 3-0 run lead.

Mount Olive countered in the top of the second inning as they plated four runs to take the lead.

The lead was short lived as the Warriors attacked the plate again in the bottom of the third inning.  Chance Fogel hit a single through the right side and then stole second base to get into scoring position.  A double by Marty Grisso to right field brought Fogel around to score and tie the game up 4-4.

Southern Wesleyan took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning.  Travis Hammond reached first after being hit by a pitch and then advanced to second as Jackson Mix laid down a sacrifice bunt.  With two outs, Cam Mitchem singled to left center field to allow Hammond to score and give Southern Wesleyan a 5-4 run advantage.

The Trojans pushed on as a home run by JT Stone allowed them to take an 8-5 run lead in the top of the fifth inning.  They continued to push ahead with runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings.

The Warriors fought back in the bottom of the ninth inning.  Clifton Olmstead led off with a double down the left field line.  He then came around to score as Chance Fogel doubled to center field.  With two outs and Fogel at second, Josh Long singled through the left side to allow Fogel to advance to third.  A wild pitch brought Fogel home.  However, the Warriors fell to the Trojans in a 19-7 final score.
