How It Happened

Game One
Mount Olive attacked quickly in game one as a home run by Jeffries put them on the board in the top of the first inning.  The Trojans pushed on to score five more runs in the top of the second to extend their lead to 6-0.

The Warriors challenged in the bottom of the second inning.  Chance Fogel reached first after being hit by a pitch and then stole second base.  With two outs, Caden Cotton walked to put two runners on.  Dawson Gilstrap then singled to left field to allow Fogel to score.  An error by the shortstop allowed Travis Hammond to reach and brought Cotton across home plate to put the Warriors down 6-2.

Southern Wesleyan came to within two runs of Mount Olive in the bottom of the third inning.  Noah Wiggins led off the inning with a double down the left field line.  Cam Mitchem then drilled the ball over the left field fence to allow the Warriors to come to 6-4 behind the Trojans.

The Trojans would not relent as they brought another run in to score in the top of the fifth inning.

However, the Warriors continued to challenge the Trojans' defense.  With one out, Cam Mitchem walked in the bottom of the fifth.  Chance Fogel then singled to left field to allow Mitchem to advance to second.  A wild pitch allowed both runners to advance ninety feet.  Patrick Walker then grounded out to shortstop to bring Mitchem in to score.

Mount Olive took a five run lead after they brought runners across home plate in the top of the sixth and seventh innings.

The Warriors struck again in the bottom of the ninth inning.  With two outs, Chance Fogel doubled to right field and then came in to score on a single to left field by Patrick Walker.  Despite the late run, the Warriors dropped game one in a 10-6 final score.

Game Two
