How It Happened

Game One

The Tornado took the early lead as they plated five runs between the top of the second and third innings.

Southern Wesleyan challenged in the bottom of the fourth innings.  Addi Johnson led off with a single to the short stop and then stole second to get into scoring position.  Andi Grae Wingate walked to put two on the bases.  With Emmy Copeland pinch running for Wingate, a ground out to the pitcher by Ryanne Yarborough allowed both Copeland and Johnson to advance.  Kori Rominger reached on an error by the second baseman, allowing both Johnson and Copeland to score and put the Warriors down 5-2.

King pushed further ahead with runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Warriors challenged once again.  Talissa Cannady led off with a single to right field and then stole second base.  With two outs, Ryanne Yarborough reached on a throwing error and Cannady came in to score on the play.

However, the Tornado plated six more runs in the top of the seventh inning to win game one in a 16-3 final score.

Game Two

The Tornado took the first runs of the game in the top of the third inning.  They pushed on with runs in the fourth and fifth innings.  King kept Southern Wesleyan off the board and went on to win game two in a 14-0 final score.
