Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan dropped both games in the doubleheader to the Limestone Saints on Thursday evening. The Warriors dropped the first game 5-4 and the second game 11-2.
Southern Wesleyan picked up 10 hits in the first game with
Addi Johnson,
Talissa Cannady and
Madison Keefer all collecting two.
Andi Grae Wingate recorded her second home run of the season. Wingate led the team with three RBIs. The Warriors walked five times, and both Johnson and Cannady picked up stolen bases. Wingate started on the mound for the Warriors and pitched six scoreless innings before the Saints were able to come in to score.
Emma Jo Wolfe closed out the game on the mound and struck out one batter.
The Warriors recorded six hits in game two. Both
Addi Johnson and
Talissa Cannady led the team with two hits. Johnson picked up both a home run and double in the game. Johnson and Cannady went on to each record RBIs in the game two loss.
Emma Jo Wolfe stole the lone base.
Ella Grace Lawton started game two and struck out two batters over 3.2 innings pitched.
Jaelyn Montfort came in to pitch in relief and picked up the remaining two strikeouts.

How It Happened
Game One
Andi Grae Wingate and Haley White of Limestone went through a pitcher's dual through the first six innings of the first game of the day.
The Saints challenged in the top of the seventh inning. They brought the first run of the game in on a groundout. Then back-to-back doubles by Wilbur and Callaway allowed Limestone to take a 3-0 run advantage.
Southern Wesleyan challenged right back.
Addi Johnson led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a single up the middle. Johnson advanced to second on a walk to
Talissa Cannady. With two on and one out,
Andi Grae Wingate ripped a home run over the left field wall to allow the Warriors to tie the game up 3-3.
Limestone carried their intensity over into the top of the eighth inning as they bought two more runs in to score.
The Warriors fought back in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and
Madison Keefer on second base,
Kori Rominger knocked a single into left field.
Talissa Cannady singled to third base to bring Keefer home. However, they were not able to plate another run so the Saints went on to win the game in a 5-4 final.
Game Two
Southern Wesleyan struck quickly as in the bottom of the first inning as shortstop
Addi Johnson knocked a lead-off home run down the left field line.
The lead was short lived as the Saints of Limestone University scored in the top of the second inning to tie the game up.
In the bottom of the third inning with two outs, the Warriors struck again.
Addi Johnson doubled to left field. She then came in to score on a single by
Talissa Cannady to give the Warriors a 2-1 run lead.
Limestone struck again in the top of the fourth inning as they plated four runs to take a 5-2 run lead. They pushed on as they brought six more runs in to score in the top of the sixth to win the game in an 11-2 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will travel to Anderson, SC on February 11 to take on the Anderson Trojans at noon and 2 pm. They will remain on the road on February 17-18 as they travel to Milledgeville, GA to take part in a tournament hosted by the Georgia College Bobcats. During the tournament, the Warriors will face the Bobcats and the Mars Hill Lions. Southern Wesleyan will then return home on February 21 to host the Augusta Jaguars at Varsity Field.
