Columbus, GA – Southern Wesleyan dropped both games in the doubleheader against the Columbus State Cougars on Tuesday evening in 8-0 and 8-2 final scores.
The Warriors were kept hitless in the first game of the evening.
Andi Grae Wingate started on the mound and pitched 3.2 innings. Both
Jaelyn Montfort and
Ella Grace Lawton came in to pitch in relief.
Southern Wesleyan collected five hits in the second game.
Andi Grae Wingate led the team with two hits.
Addi Johnson,
Kori Rominger and
Charity Dennis also had solo hits in the game. Wingate hit a two run home run for the Warriors lone two RBIs.
Autumn Barnhardt started game two and pitched three innings.
Emma Jo Wolfe came in to pitch in relief.

How It Happened
Game One
The Cougars struck in the fourth inning as they brought seven runs in to score. They went on to score once more in the bottom of the fifth inning to win game one in an 8-0 final.
Game Two
Columbus State attacked in the bottom of the first inning to take an early 3-0. They extended their lead to 6-0 with runs in the bottom of the second, third and fourth innings.
Southern Wesleyan countered in the top of the sixth inning.
Addi Johnson led off the inning by reaching first on a walk. A ground out by
Talissa Cannady allowed Johnson to advance to second base. With two outs and Johnson in scoring position,
Andi Grae Wingate drilled a home run over the left field wall to put the Warriors back within four runs of the Cougars.
The Cougars were not done as they brought two more runs in to score in the bottom of the inning to win the game in an 8-2 final.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain on the road on March 9 as they travel to Young Harris, GA to take on the Young Harris Mountain Lions at 3 and 5 p.m. The Warriors will open up Conference Carolinas action on March 17 as they travel to Pembroke, NC to take on the UNC Pembroke Braves. They will then travel down to Florence, SC on March 18 to take on the Francis Marion Patriots. Southern Wesleyan will return to Central, SC and Varsity Field on March 21 to host the King Tornado at 2 and 4:30 p.m.
