Warriors Unable to Pass Bobcats and Lions in Final Bobcat Battle Games

Milledgeville, GA – Southern Wesleyan fell in the final two games of the Bobcat Battle on Saturday.  The Warriors lost the first game of the day against the Georgia College Bobcats in a 9-1 final score.

The Warriors picked up three hits against the Bobcats.  Addi Johnson led the team with two hits.  The other hit coming off the bat of Kori Rominger.  Rominger had the lone RBI for the Warriors.  Southern Wesleyan walked three times.  Both Johnson and Talissa Cannady had stolen bases.  Emma Jo Wolfe started game one and pitched 4.2 innings while striking out three batters.

Southern Wesleyan collected four hits in the game against the Lions of Mars Hill.  Ryanne Yarborough doubled during the game.  Andi Grae Wingate started for the Warriors and pitched two innings while striking out two.  Ella Grace Lawton and Jaelyn Montfort came in to pitch in the relief.  Montfort led the team with four strikeouts on the day.

How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan vs Georgia College
The Bobcats took the first run of the afternoon as a triple by Martin allowed Lancaster to come in and score to give Georgia College the early lead.

The Warriors countered in the top of the second inning.  Emma Jo Wolfe led off the inning by reaching first on a walk.  A fielder's choice allowed Ryanne Yarborough to reach base, however the Bobcats were unable to get Wolfe out on the play.  With two on, a walk to Madison Keefer loaded up the bases.  Kori Rominger walked to bring Wolfe in and tie the game up 1-1.

However, Georgia College brought eight more runs in the score during the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings to win the game in a 9-1 final score.
 
 
Southern Wesleyan vs Mars Hill
Mars Hill shut the Warriors out in Southern Wesleyan's second game of the afternoon.  The Lions brought runs in to score in the first, second and third innings to win the game in a 13-0 final score.
 
 
 

 
What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will return to Varsity Field and Central, SC on February 21 as they host the Augusta Jaguars at 2 and 4 p.m.  They will then travel to Greeneville, TN on February 25 to take on the Tusculum Pioneers.  The Warriors will remain on the road on February 28 to take on the Columbus State Cougars, and then on March 9 to take on the Young Harris Mountain Lions.
