Spartanburg, SC – Southern Wesleyan took down the Converse Valkyries on the road on Saturday in a 61-45 final score.
The Warriors shot 41.2% from the field and were 35.7% from beyond the arc.
Brittany Mack and
Lexi Greffen led Southern Wesleyan in scoring as both posted 12 points.
Allie Newberry followed with 10 points. Southern Wesleyan recorded 10 assists with Greffen leading the team with five.
The Warriors pulled down 38 rebounds during the game.
Shelby Glance led the team with 10. Glance went on to pick up two of the three blocks.
Allie Newberry recorded the other block of the game. The Warriors stole the ball away 10 times with both
Brittany Mack and Glance recording three steals. Newberry followed with two steals.

How It Happened
The Valkyries took the first points of the afternoon on a jump shot by Sydney Wilson. However, the Warriors took the lead on a pull up jump shot by
Brittany Mack.
Lexi Greffen stepped beyond the arc and put up a three pointer to extend the Warriors lead to 6-2. Southern Wesleyan continued to push ahead as
Tristen Berry put up back-to-back jump shots.
Allie Newberry kicked off the second quarter with a jump shot to extend the Warriors lead to 15-4. Converse countered with a layup by Jordan Brown. A step back jump shot by
Brittany Mack extended the Warriors lead to nine points with just over eight minutes left in the second quarter.
Shelby Glance collected a pass from Mack and stepped beyond the arc to hit a three pointer. Alisa Davenport put up a jump shot to cut the Warriors lead down to ten points.
Brittany Mack hit a last second jump shot to put the Warriors ahead 27-16 at halftime.
Southern Wesleyan continued their intensity in the third quarter as
Tristen Berry stepped beyond the arc and sunk a three point shot. Converse countered with a pull up jump shot by Zahra Cross. The Warriors would not relent as
Brittany Mack put up a jump shot off a pass from Berry. A step back jump shot by Berry extended the Warriors lead to 37-21. The Warriors took an eighteen point lead on a jump shot by
Shelby Glance.
Converse came to 44-26 behind the Warriors on a layup by Sydney Wilson.
Lexi Greffen passed the ball to
Brooke Henricks seconds later. Henricks hit a jump shot to give the Warriors a twenty point lead. Amaia Parkins laid the ball up for the Valkyries. Southern Wesleyan continued to push as
Allie Newberry laid the ball up into the basket. Back-to-back shots by Greffen and Newberry extended the Warriors' lead to 54-33 with just over five minutes left on the clock. The Valkyries continued to challenge on a layup by Jordan Brown. However, a last second layup by
Allie Newberry allowed the Warriors to win the game in a 61-45 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will return home on February 15 as they welcome the Lees-McRae Bobcats to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium for a 5 pm tip-off. The Warriors will remain at home on February 18 as they host the Barton Bulldogs for senior night. They will wrap up the season on the road as they take on the King Tornado in Bristol, TN.
