How It Happened

The Warriors took the first point of the match as Taylin Smith collected a pass from Lexi Greffen and sunk a three pointer.  They pushed further ahead on a layup by Dynasty Shegog, but the Lions countered as a layup by Atiba Adewunmi allowed Paine to get on the board.  A second three pointer by Smith extended the Warriors lead to eight.  The Lions chipped away at the Warriors lead as a three pointer by Leia Brown put them within three with just under five minutes left on the clock.  However, Jordan Race passed the ball beyond the arc to Kaliah Kendrick for a three pointer that extended the Warriors lead to 16-8.  The Warriors continued their offensive press as ,with just under two minutes on the clock, Lexi Greffen stole the ball away and passed it under the basket to Alexis Glover who laid it up to give the Warriors an eleven point lead.

The first point of the second quarter came off a made free throw by S'Moriyah Rice.  Back-to-back layups by Lexi Greffen pushed the Warriors lead up to twenty points.  They continued to distance themselves as a layup by Alexis Glover gave them a 42-19 point lead with just under four minutes left on the clock in the quarter.  Paine would not go down without a fight as Daejah Houck hit back-to-back three point shots.  Deavian Pitt made a layup, but a foul by Greffen allowed her to make the and one basket.  Adewunmi Atiba laid the ball up last second to allow the Lions to trail the Warriors 47-34 going into the locker room at half.

The Lions picked up where they left off in the third quarter as they pressed the Warriors defense.  A foul allowed Nasia Thompson to make the first point of the third quarter on a free throw.  Southern Wesleyan was not discouraged as Dynasty Shegog passed the ball over to Lexi Greffen who knocked down a jump shot.  Shelby Glance fired off her lone three point basket of the game to allow the Warriors to regain their 21-point lead.  Jada Mullinex sunk the ball from beyond the arc to put the Warriors lead back under twenty, but free throw baskets by Kaliah Kendrick gave the Warriors a 61-40 point lead seconds later.  Southern Wesleyan would not back down as Asia Pearly and Dynasty Shegog each laid the ball up into the basket.

Paine kicked off the fourth quarter with a layup by Jada Brooks, but the Warriors countered with a layup by Asia Pearly.  The Warriors next few points came off free throws by Kaliah Kendrick, Lexi Greffen, Dynasty Shegog and Tristen Berry.  Jada Mullinex stepped beyond the arc to hit a three pointer for the Lions.  The Lions continued to challenge with a three pointer by Daejah Houck.  However, last second layups by S'Moriyah Rice and Asia Pearly allowed the Warriors to seal a 85-57 point victory over the Lions.
