Greenville, SC – Southern Wesleyan dropped the exhibition game against the Furman Paladins on Monday evening in a 96-62 final score.
Lexi Greffen and Jordan Race led the Warriors in the exhibition contest as each posted 16 points. Kaliah Kendrick picked up three of the 12 assists. The Warriors had eight steals with Shelby Glance and Race each having two. Of the 29 rebounds, Glance recorded six and Alexis Glover had five. Dynasty Shegog blocked two Paladin attacks.

How It Happened
The Paladins took the first points as a foul sent Jada Session to the free throw line. Session made the first shot and then Kate Johnson got the rebound off the second missed free throw and put it up in the basket to give Furman the 3-0 advantage. Southern Wesleyan countered as Lexi Greffen put up a jump shot. The Warriors challenged every attack by the Paladins with baskets by Shelby Glance and Greffen to keep them within one point. Furman took a seven point lead on baskets by Evie Depetro and Kennedy Grier. Alexis Glover laid the ball up to keep the Warriors within eight, but a three pointer by Sydney Ryan allowed the Paladins to extend their lead to eleven.
The Warriors took the first points of the second quarter as Dynasty Shegog laid the ball up into the basket. Southern Wesleyan pushed on as Lexi Greffen passed the ball beyond the arc to Shelby Glance. Glance sunk the three pointer to cut the Paladins lead down to nine. Sydney Ryan laid the ball up into the basket to give Furman a 30-19 point lead with just over six minutes left on the clock in the second quarter. The Paladins distanced themselves further as Ryan laid the ball up once again. Asia Pearly stole the ball away from the Paladins and laid the ball up in the paint. Furman pushed on as three pointers by Evie Depetro and Tate Walters allowed them to take a 55-27 point lead at halftime.
The Paladins struck quickly in the third quarter as Kate Johnson put up a layup. Southern Wesleyan countered seconds later as Dynasty Shegog laid the ball up into the basket. Furman shut Southern Wesleyan down for three minutes to keep them from cutting into their lead. Kaliah Kendrick kicked the ball out beyond the arc to Shelby Glance who sunk the three pointer. The Warriors continued to fight seconds later as Glance passed the ball to Lexi Greffen who put up the two point jump shot to cut the lead down to thirty-one. Asia Pearly passed the ball over to Jordan Race who laid the ball up into the basket. The Warriors wrapped up the third quarter with free throws by Race and S'Moriyah Rice.
Furman took the first point of the final quarter as Kate Johnson laid the ball up into the basket. A step back three point jump shot by Sydney Ryan extend Furman's lead to thirty-six. Lexi Greffen drove to the net and laid the ball up into the basket. Greffen threatened again as she stole the ball and took the ball down the court and laid it up to keep the Warriors within thirty-six. Furman pushed on as Evie Depetro stepped beyond the arc to sink a three. Jordan Race laid the ball up to allow the Warriors to cut the lead down to thirty-four. Despite a last second layup by Race, the Warriors fell in exhibition play to the Paladins in a 96-62 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will return to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium on November 21 as they host the Paine Lions at 5 pm. They will then travel down the road to Anderson, SC on November 25 to take on the Anderson Trojans. The Warriors will take on the Wofford Terriers in exhibition play on November 27.
