Central, SC – The Warriors picked up their first victory of the season on Saturday afternoon as they defeated the Limestone Saints in 72-63 final.
Southern Wesleyan shot 36.2% from the field and went 76.7% from the free throw line. Shelby Glance led the Warriors with 15 points with both Tristen Berry and Kaliah Kendrick right behind her with 12 points. Lexi Greffen picked up four assists with Glance following with three. Of the 47 rebounds, Alexis Glover had nine boards with Glance behind her with seven. The Warriors had five blocks. Both Glance and Jordan Race had two steals.

How It Happened
Limestone took the first points of the game on a layup by Kalisha Hill. The Warriors countered seconds later on a jump shot by Lexi Greffen. Shelby Glance stole the ball away from the Saints and passed it down the court to Tristen Berry who laid it up to give Southern Wesleyan their first lead of the game. A three pointer by Dynasty Shegog put the Warriors lead at five. Kaliah Kendrick hit her lone three of the afternoon to extend the Warriors lead to nine, but a three pointer by Reagan Kargo cut the Warriors lead back down to six.
The Saints fought back as layups by Amara Newsom and Reagan Kargo cut the Warriors lead down to one point. However, a jump shot by Asia Pearly allowed Southern Wesleyan to regain their three point lead. The Warriors pushed on with baskets by Shelby Glance and Kaliah Kendrick. A foul on a layup by Madison Clark allowed her to make the and one basket to put the Saints within one once again. Southern Wesleyan took a 25-21 point lead at half on a jump shot by Jordan Race and free throws by Lexi Greffen.
Southern Wesleyan kicked off the third quarter on a three pointer by Shelby Glance. Reagan Kargo hit a jump shot with just over nine minutes on the clock to put the Saints within five. The Warriors continued to push ahead as Glance passed the ball beyond the arc to Tristen Berry. Berry put up a three to extend the Warriors lead to 31-23. Layups by Amara Newsom put the Saints within nine. Shelby Glance hit two three pointers within the span of a minute to keep the Warriors on top by nine. With under a minute on the clock, Jordan Race collected a pass from beyond the arc to hit a three point shot.
The Warriors took the first points of the final quarter as Alexis Glover laid the ball up into the basket. With just over seven minutes on the clock, Kalisha Hill laid the ball up into the basket from inside the paint. Limestone pressed the Warriors defense again as Ameera Thomas passed the ball to Neylan Vila Delicado who sunk the ball into the net from beyond the arc. Kaliah Kendrick drove the ball to the basket to extend the Warriors lead to 61-53. A layup by Hill put the Saints right back to within nine. Southern Wesleyan claimed their first victory of the season as they defeated the Saints in a 72-63 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will travel to Greenville, SC to take on the Furman Paladins in exhibition play on November 20. The Warriors will return to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium on November 21 as they host the Paint Lions at 5pm. They will then travel to Anderson, SC on November 25 to take on the Anderson Trojans.
