How It Happened

The Cobras took the first points of the game on a jump shot by Kamari Thompson, and then extended their lead to five on a three pointer out of the hands of Mya Wasswa.  Southern Wesleyan kept their lead at three as Lexi Greffen put up a jump shot of her own.  Coker pushed on, but baskets by Dynasty Shegog and Shelby Glance kept the Warriors within five.  The Warriors continued to chip away at the lead as Jordan Race passed the ball to Asia Pearly who put the ball into the basket to allow the Warriors to trail the Cobras 16-13 with just over a minute left in the first quarter.

Shelby Glance kicked off the second quarter with a jump shot to tie the game up at seventeen points apiece.  Coker pushed on as a layup by Kamari Thompson allowed them to regain the lead, but a layup by Jordan Race tied the game up once again.  Tristen Berry put up a layup to give the Warriors their first lead of the night.  The Cobras would not relent as baskets by Mya Wasswa allowed them to regain a five point lead.  Coker led 34-25 going into the locker room at halftime.

The Cobras struck first in the second half as Kamari Thompson and Mya Wasswa each made baskets.  A three pointer by Shelby Glance kept the Warriors within ten points.  Alexis Glover drove the ball to the basket for a layup.  Coker distanced themselves further on jump shots by Wasswa.  Southern Wesleyan challenged back with baskets by Glover and Glance.

A three pointer by Shawntenna Tillman allowed Coker to extend their lead to 60-39 at the start of the fourth quarter.  Coker pushed on with a jump shot by Dominique Rodriguez, but Southern Wesleyan countered with a layup by Dynasty Shegog.  Jordan Race went up for a jump shot and was fouled on the basket to earn the and one free throw.  Despite a last second three point basket by Race, the Warriors fell to the Cobras in a 75-49 final.
