How It Happened:

Although it didn't come until the 29th minute, the Warriors scored first in a Conference Carolinas game for the first time this season. A well-worked long free kick took a couple of touches after it was initially booted by Feren Nunez, but it found Dillon Bennett in space on the right side of the eighteen yard box and Bennett found fellow freshman Josiah Pitts who smashed the ball into the back of the net giving SWU the lead. The Warriors were very bright in the opening period, and were strong in defense as Marco Iniguez was rarely challenged in their own net. Gabriel Melendez, in particular, had a very bright 45 minutes, and he had a couple of brilliant efforts that were saved by Erskine keeper Evan Zizek.

However, the second half was when the game opened up for SWU. They controlled possession for the majority of the half, creating chances and winning set pieces in dangerous areas. In the 74th minute, Dillon Bennett found the back of the net for the first time in his college career to increase the Warriors' lead. It was a very well-taken goal, as he worked through the Flying Fleet Defense and poked it past Zizek for the second Warrior goal of the night. Ten minutes later, the Southern Wesleyan found the net again, this time through Carter Pike from a beautifully struck volley on an assist from Ryan Rodriguez. The fourth and final goal of the night would again come from Dillon Bennett in the 86th minute on another beautiful hit. That would seal the win for the Warriors and season sweep of the Flying Fleet.
