How It Happened
A foul in the box allowed the Valkyries to take the first goal of the afternoon as Gabriel Verona netted the shot. The Warriors fought back as Brody Schroeder challenged the net, but the attack on the net was thwarted to keep Southern Wesleyan off the board. Converse continued to push ahead as Johannes Haden scored. Southern Wesleyan did not back down as Diego Hernandez, Angel Padilla and Schroeder took three consecutive attacks on the goal, but Tim Baerwalde dove in front of the attacks. The Warriors pushed on as Ryan Rodriguez knocked the ball over to Hernandez who put it into the net and cut the Valkyries lead in half.
Converse would not relent as they regained their two goal advantage on a goal by Joel Houston. The Warriors pushed on as Josiah Pitts headed the ball over to Ryan Rodriguez. Rodriguez took a step and drilled the ball into the net to put the Warriors back within one goal of the Valkyries. Converse scored their next two goals on a penalty kick by Verona and Houston's second goal of the half. Despite last minute shots by Carter Pike and Gabriel Melendez, the Warriors fell to the Valkyries in a 5-2 final.
