Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Belmont Abbey Crusaders on Saturday afternoon in a 7-0 final score.
The Warriors took nine shots with three being on goal in the loss to the Crusaders. Madi Wurst led the team with four shots. Wurst, Audrey Crawford and Abigail Aman all had shots on goal. Katelyn O'Neill played seventy-one minutes in goal and collected five saves.

How It Happened
The Crusaders attacked swiftly as Sabrina Cunha, Gabriela Enciso, Logan Parry and Madison Gnolfo each took shots on the goal, but Katelyn O'Neill and the Warriors defense thwarted each of their attacks. Southern Wesleyan challenged with shots off the boots of Madi Wurst and Madelyn Graf, but none of their shots found the back of the net. Belmont Abbey's attacks paid off after fourteen minutes of play as Reagan Cullen collected a pass from Haley Long and put the ball into the net for the first goal of the game. Goals by Parry and Ella McDonald allowed the Crusaders to extend their lead to 3-0. Southern Wesleyan pressed on as Kira Brown put up a shot that ricocheted off the woodwork. They continued to press as Wurst and Abigail Aman each sent shots to the net, but Brianna Sroka saved each attack from paying off.
Belmont Abbey continued to push ahead in the second half as Gabriela Enciso took a pass from Mia Muckenthaler and put the ball into the net. The Crusaders continued to press as Reagan Cullen and Madison Gnolfo scored. The Warriors challenged back but Audrey Crawford's shot was saved by Gianna Carneglia to keep the Warriors off the board. The Crusaders went on to win the game in a 7-0 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain at home on October 24 as they host the Erskine Flying Fleet at 5pm. They will then wrap up the regular season on October 28 as they welcome the Converse Valkyries to Childs Field.
