Central, SC – The Warriors fell to the Converse Valkyries on Wednesday evening in a 62-56 final score.
Southern Wesleyan shot 29.4% from the field and were 81.3% from the free throw line in the loss.
Shelby Glance led the team with 13 points. She was followed by both
Allie Newberry and
Brooke Henricks with nine points.
Brittany Mack led the team with four of the 12 assists.
The Warriors totaled 36 rebounds with
Shelby Glance leading the team with 11 rebounds. This was Glance's fourth double-double game of the season. Glance went on to record three blocks. The Warriors stole the ball nine times with
Lexi Greffen leading the team with three.

How It Happened
The Valkyries charged out of the gate as Sydney Wilson laid the ball up into the basket. Southern Wesleyan fought back as
Shelby Glance put up a jump shot. However, a three pointer by Jordan Brown extended Converse's lead to 7-2. A jump shot by
Brittany Mack and three pointer out of the hands of
Caroline Reese allowed the Warriors to come to within one point of the Valkyries.
Lexi Greffen stole the ball away and took it down the court for a layup to put the Warriors on top.
Converse took a 15-10 point lead on a layup by Sydney Wilson. However, the Warriors came back to within three points on another jump shot by
Shelby Glance.
Lexi Greffen passed the ball beyond the arc to
Brooke Henricks. Henricks sunk the ball into the net to keep Southern Wesleyan within two. Converse would not relent as Zahra Cross laid the ball up into the basket. However, a layup by
Alexis Glover allowed the Warriors to get back within two points. Converse led 25-23 at halftime.

Brooke Henricks drove the ball to the net and laid it up into the basket. With just over seven minutes on the clock, Henricks passed the ball under the net to
Allie Newberry who laid it up into the basket to keep the Warriors within two points. Back-to-back jump shots by
Shelby Glance allowed the Warriors to tie the game up at thirty-one points apiece. The Valkyries pushed ahead on a layup by Daven West. Colbie Perry hit a three pointer to give Converse an eleven point advantage.

Shelby Glance made jump shots.
Brittany Mack laid the ball up into the basket to put the Warriors within twelve points of the Valkyries.
Shelby Glance stepped beyond the arc to hit her first three pointer of the day to cut the Valkyries lead down to five points. Converse put up free throws to keep them ahead by six points. Despite a last second jump shot by
Brooke Henricks, the Warriors fell in a 62-56 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will host the University of Mount Olive Trojans on January 21 at 2 p.m. During the game, the Warriors will celebrate their Little Warrior Day with festivities and poster signings for all the children in attendance. The Warriors will travel to Tigerville, SC to take on the North Greenville Crusaders on January 24 at 5 p.m. They will remain on the road on February 1 as they travel to Pembroke, NC to take on the UNC Pembroke Braves.
