Coach Meneses says...

"It was a hard fought game.  We had a lot of possession and controlled the game.  Converse is a well coached team and it was difficult to break them down.  In the end, the victory was well deserved and I'm very proud of the girls on how they continued with our game plan throughout the game."

How It Happened

Converse attacked the net early as Angelica Gonzalez took a shot that sailed high and to the left.  An attack by Isabella Boccia was saved by Samantha Benner to keep the Valkyries from taking the lead.  Southern Wesleyan countered as Hannah Kovalcik drove the ball to the net, but her attack was thwarted by Daelynn Perry.  Shots on goal by Madi Wurst and Bella Hanzel were also prevented from reaching the net by Perry to keep the game scoreless at the half.

The Valkyries attempted to take the lead in the second half as Raegan Cash took a shot on the goal, but Samantha Benner saved the attack to keep Converse off the board.  Southern Wesleyan countered as Karla Gordon took a shot on the goal, but Daelynn Perry would not let the attack pay off.  Madi Wurst took shots on the goal, but her shots were both thwarted to keep the Warriors off the board.  Bella Hanzel headed the ball toward the back of the net, but Perry once again collected the attack.  Bryanna Pickens collected the ball and passed it up to Karla Gordon.  Gordon drove the ball to the net and shot it around the Valkyries goalkeeper to score and give the Warriors a 1-0 victory.
