How It Happened

The Warriors took the first shot of the match as a foul outside the box allowed Feren Nunez to take a free kick.  However, Nunez sent the ball high over the net.  The Hawks challenged right back as both Ausar Omwenga and Tren Drexhage took shots on the goal, but Wesley Bigbee thwarted each attack to keep Chowan from taking the lead.  Southern Wesleyan challenged several times, but Chowan thwarted each one to keep the game tied up 0-0.

Chowan maintained the attack in the second half, but Southern Wesleyan stayed strong on the back line.  The Hawks attempted to score, but an offside call right on in front of the goal kept them from taking the early second half lead.  James Randel took a shot, but it ricocheted off the post to keep the game scoreless.  Southern Wesleyan countered with a shot off the foot of Austin Snow, but his attack was blocked by the Hawks.  The Hawks attacks paid off as a throw in by Harri Lovett was sent into the goal by Tren Drexhage to give Chowan the advantage.  Southern Wesleyan countered as Hykeem Martin sent the ball to the net, but Charlie Farrar saved the attack to keep the Warriors from tying the game back up.  The Hawks continued to attack as a goal by Dennis Bates allowed them to take a 2-0 lead.  Chowan went on to win the game in a 3-0 final.
